Welcome to My Chaotic Little Travel Blog (aka “Out Wandering Around”)

Hey there! I’m Alex—a travel-addicted parent of two wild and wonderful kids (ages 7 and 4), constantly convincing my family that yes, it’s absolutely normal to drive three hours for good ice cream, a better view, or a vineyard with just the right rosé.

Weekdays are filled with finance, deadlines, and 15+ years of meetings that could’ve been emails—not to mention the occasional spreadsheet crisis. But once Friday hits, I trade it all for a coffee, a packed bag, and an open road. Based in NYC, we brave Lincoln Tunnel traffic for lighthouses, lakes, mountain trails, and pie-scented towns. From Fire Island to Maine, it’s all about long weekends, cozy escapes, and
spontaneous detours—complete with snacks, winery stops, and the inevitable moment we realize we forgot the sunscreen.

And none of this would be half as fun without my husband—equal parts road trip DJ, snack supplier, and the calm to my chaos. Whether it’s chasing sunsets or pulling over for that roadside farm stand, he’s always up for the ride (even if he raises an eyebrow first).
This blog is for families, couples, and anyone craving a little adventure without the hassle of airports or packing 17 suitcases. If you’ve got itchy feet, energetic kids, and a serious case of wanderlust—or just want to know where to sip wine with a view—you’re in the right place.

Let’s hit the road!
